As a parent, Call the Midwife really struck a chord with me. It’s a beautifully told series that highlights the challenges and joys of childbirth, motherhood, and family life in a very different time. The stories are emotional and often eye-opening, but always grounded in compassion.
Poldark

Slow Horses
As a parent, I don’t get a lot of time for TV, but Slow Horses really hooked me. It’s a smart British spy thriller about a bunch of MI5 misfits, led by the brilliantly grumpy Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman is fantastic in the role). It’s full of sharp writing, dark humour, and just the right amount of tension. If you’re looking for something clever and gripping to unwind with after the kids are in bed, this one’s well worth your time.
House Of Dragons
If you enjoyed Game of Thrones and you’re looking for something equally gripping, House of the Dragon is a great pick. Set 172 years earlier, it dives into the Targaryen family’s power struggle, with plenty of drama, politics, and tension. As a parent, I don’t always get a lot of screen time, but this one’s perfect for when you need an escape into a rich, complex world after the kids are in bed.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
As a parent, I’m always looking for something light but clever to unwind with—and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel completely delivers. Set in the 1950s, it follows Midge, a housewife who unexpectedly dives into the world of stand-up comedy. It’s full of sharp wit, great characters, and beautiful period details. A fun, feel-good watch that’s perfect after a long day.
Gavin & Stacey
If you’re looking for a lighthearted yet heartfelt comedy, Gavin & Stacey is a great choice.
